CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) Security

Certification in this track indicates expert level knowledge across security and VPN solutions and a solid understanding of various operating systems (Windows, Unix and Linux) and common application services (for example HTTP, SMTP, FTP and DNS).
CCIE Security experts are capable of configuring complex end-to-end secure networks, can troubleshoot integrated environments and possess strong understanding of common attacks and mitigation techniques. Although core IP routing protocols are not the focus of this certification, delegates must demonstrate in-depth understanding and applicable knowledge in Layer 2 and Layer 3 infrastructures.
Prerequisites:
There are no formal prerequisites for CCIE certification. Delegates are expected to have an in-depth understanding of the subtleties, intricacies and challenges of end-to-end networking. The delegate is strongly encouraged to have 3-5 years of job experience before attempting certification.
To obtain your CCIE, you must first pass a written qualification exam and then a corresponding hands-on lab exam.
Recertification:
CCIE recertification is required after two years.
